ADVENT JAZZ VESPERS SERVICE

Sunday, December 4, at 6:30 PM

Music will be provided by four of Fort Wayne’s top jazz musicians. The vespers service is a tradition that dates back to the early history of the church. During the middle ages, the members of the church stopped several times during the day to offer specific prayers to God. Vespers is the evening prayer service sometimes referred to as Evensong. The focus of this prayer service is thanksgiving, showing appreciation to God for the blessings of the day.

Are you worn out from the hustle and bustle of the holiday season? Do you need some peace and quiet? Why not spend an hour in prayerful conversation with the Lord? The service will consist of scripture, seasonal music, and contemplative prayer. During this hectic Advent season, let’s take some time to quiet our minds and prepare our hearts for the arrival of the Christ Child.

CHRISTMAS CANTATA | December 11, 2016

The Taylor Chapel Choir and orchestra will present the Christmas Cantata, What Sweeter Music, at both services on December 11. What Sweeter Music is an elegant work that captures the varied moods and colors of the Christmas season. The cantata is organized in the classic “Lesson and Carols” format and features a selection of carols that is pure Christmas joy! Invite your family and friends to be in the congregation for this highlight of the Advent season!
