United Methodist Women

Purpose
The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is:
To Know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ,
To Develop a creative, supportive fellowship, and
To Expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.
  
Subgroups
In addition to the four major events sponsored by the UMW, Taylor Chapel UMW is comprised of three subgroups that meet throughout the year.
Alpha Circle – meets on the 2nd Thursday at 7:00pm. Chairpersons: Lynette Augspurger, Sandra Diss, and Jean Snyder
Lydia Mission Stitchers – meets on the 4th Tuesday at 9:15am. Chairperson: Joannie Tumbleson
Martha Fellowship meets on the 3rd Thursday at 7:00pm. Chairperson: Pat Beisner, Kathy Davis, Betty Weiler
 
Other Caring Ministries and Interests
Prayer Shawl Ministry - meets on the 1st Tuesday at 6:30pm at the church for knitting, crocheting, praying and sharing uplifting stories. Prayer shawls are available for anyone in need of being blanketed with prayer. To avoid duplicate gifts and to track the number given, the group requests you contact the office or group coordinators Judy Pieson and Ann Serrani. 
SALSA (Single Awesome Ladies Socially Active) - meets the 4th Saturday for fellowship and a meal. Coordinator: Pat Beisner
UMW Reading Program - Located in the church library, the UMW reading program expands our understanding of God's mission and is for all men, women and youth. Books are organized by subject. Simply fill out the card in the inside cover and return the book when your done. Coordinator: Karen Johnson 749-5756

We are called to serve another,
To walk humbly with God!

During 2011, the Taylor Chapel UMW...
     -contributed $1,700 to global, national, and local missions.
     -sold scrip as a church fundraiser
     -served funeral dinners and for Workers for the Blind, and lunches for rummage sales and Harvest of Talents
     -sewed hundreds of cancer pads
     -furnished supplies for the Nursery
     -adopted special friends within the church who needed a little extra TLC
     -donated personal care items to Charis House
     -mailed birthday and Christmas cards to those living at Lucille Raines Residence
     -baked bread for the Sunday morning coffee bar
     -purchased mosquito netting for beds for 20 African families
     -with help from the congregation, donated over $500 to the Baby Bottle Campaign for A Hope Center
     -served in other areas, when called upon
 
The UMW budget is supported by individual mission pledges, donations, RADA sales, World Thank offerings, Taylor Made Almond Coffee Cakes, and rummage/bake sales.
