Two Year Olds
Realizing that this is often our students' first experience away from parents and other family members, we focus on helping the children become comfortable away from home. We want to help them know that our preschool is a warm, caring place where they will be safe, cared for, and have fun while they are away from home. Our class size is small to encourage social interaction without being overwhelming. Age and developmentally appropriate activities are planned that are fun and stimulating. They will have many new, different experiences each time they come. Value is placed on them being eager to come each day to see what exciting activities are waiting for them.
- The children will become more independent as they learn to do things for themselves; such as putting their bags and coats on their hooks, putting away toys, and taking off and putting on their coats.
- They will learn how to play with other children as they interact with them and their teacher while they explore their classroom.
- Fine motor skills will be developed as they use crayons, paints, puzzles, blocks, and Play-Doh.
- Daily outdoor or gym play includes climbing, swinging, riding tricycles, and running which supports the development of large motor skills.
- Listening to stories, singing songs, and sharing books will encourage new vocabulary and concepts about colors, shapes, numbers, letters, and the world in which they live.
- Through the teaching of Bible stories your child will be presented with the concepts that God created all things, God, the Father, cares and provides for me, and Jesus, God's Son, loves me.
The three hours is very flexible, however the daily routines and schedule will give the children a sense of security.
